Molly Harmoney
Record Keeper, Historian, Past Commissioner (1988 -1995)
Molly lives in the same home on Lummi Island that her parents bought before she was born. Her first 9 years it was a summer home. She started Beach Elementary School in the 4th grade. It was the best time of her life. Easter was a favorite time when she got to hunt for Easter eggs in the cemetery. Her two children and two of her grandchildren have also been involved in the Cemetery Easter Egg Hunt.
Molly has spent most of her adult life on Lummi. Her children, Sandi and Chris, went to Beach School. Molly started volunteering there in 1987 and was offered a job in 1988 to run the office and help staff. She worked part time there till 2014 (27 years). For the last 18 years she worked as the Head Custodian and as a maintenance personal. It was always considered her home away from home.
In 2023 the new Commissioners Joanie Roteman, Judy Thomas, and Brenda Beeman asked Molly to be the Record Keeper, since she had prior Commissioner experience. Her prior employment before Beach School was in bookkeeping and farming. So after some hesitation she decided to help the new Commissioners and is trying to get the accounting in order, collect a lot of history, and to make sure records are up to date.
To walk in the Cemetery brings back many memories of her life on the island. For her it is a very special place.
